Join us on Saturday for Educational Workshops, FREE to attend for all at the Toronto Coin Expo, and will take place in the Bram & Appel Salon, of the Toronto Reference Library, 789 Yonge Street.
  • 10:30 am: Coin Collecting for KIDS *
    A workshop for the young collectors who want to learn more about what beginners can collect. Ever used a TTC subway or bus token? Learn about these and other transit tokens from Canada and the USA. Coin collecting is a FUN hobby, so join us and meet fellow collectors. Free to young collectors in attendance at the Coin Expo!
  • 11:00am: FREE - KIDS Coin Workshop Auction *
    A fun-filled auction for the younger numismatics. The numismatic auction is only for young collectors using school play money to buy REAL items! Reserve your spot today (recommended for kids 8+)
  • 1:00pm: Coin Grading Workshop - Grading Bank Notes with François Rufiange *
    The purpose of this presentation is to show you how to grade bank notes. Using the Charlton catalog, we will discuss in detail the terminology (with pictures) and learn how to evaluate circulated and new (MS) notes as well as the demerit point system. We will also discuss wear of polymer bills. A demonstration will follow to show you the technique for looking at a note and seeing all the details that will allow you to assign a grade. This 45-minute presentation will be followed by a hands-on workshop where you will be able to examine and grade various notes. Bring your loupes!
